# Update | 1.21.8 to 1.21.11

## 1. Updating the JAR

The first step is to update your server JAR. We recommend using **Paper**, so make sure to update to the latest **1.21.11** version of PaperMC: <https://papermc.io/>

## 2. Updating the Plugins

The next step is to update all plugins in the setup. The easiest way is to download the latest version of your setup from **BuiltByBit**. Then, delete the existing plugins on your server (except for any you added yourself) and upload the plugins from the latest setup version.

You also have to update all dependencies.

## 3. Updating the Resourcepack

The Minecraft **1.21.9** update changed how the `pack.mcmeta` file in resource packs must be formatted. As a result, you need to replace the `pack.mcmeta` file in the setup’s resource pack with the one from the resource pack included in the latest version of the setup. Alternatively, you can update the entire resource pack, as shown below.

By default, our setups use the **ForcePack** plugin to handle the resourcepack. In this case, simply update the `config.yml` by replacing the file on your server at: `plugins > ForcePack > config.yml` with the one from the latest version of the setup.

## 4. Updating ExcellentCrates

The latest version of ExcellentCrates introduced several changes that require the ExcellentCrates configuration files in the setup to be reconfigured. Therefore, you need to delete the `ExcellentCrates` plugin folder on your server and replace it with the `ExcellentCrates` plugin folder from the latest version of the setup.

## 5. Fixing "Server is full!"

The 1.21.11 update caused an issue with the Essentials plugin that prevents players from joining the setup. To fix this, set `use-custom-server-full-message` to `false` in the Essentials `config.yml`. This setting is located around line 571. You can find the file at: `plugins > Essentials > config.yml`.

## 6. Fix for CoinsEngine

For 1.21.11, CoinsEngine had to be updated, which caused some issues. The `take` command in the plugin was changed to `remove`, which creates problems for DeluxeMenus menus that still use the `take` command. To fix this, upload this file to the following filepath on your server: `plugins > CoinsEngine`
