# Update | 1.21.4 to 1.21.8

## 1. Updating the JAR

The first step is to update your server JAR. We recommend using **Paper**, so make sure to update to the latest **1.21.8** version of PaperMC: <https://papermc.io/>

## 2. Updating the Plugins

The next step is to update all plugins in the setup. The easiest way is to download the latest version of your setup from **BuiltByBit**. Then, delete the existing plugins on your server (except for any you added yourself) and upload the plugins from the latest setup version.

You also have to update all dependencies.

## 3. Updating the Resourcepack

The Minecraft **1.21.8** update forced us to change how the custom 2D Head texture works. For this reason, you have to update the resourcepack on your server.

By default, our setups use the **ForcePack** plugin to handle the resourcepack. In this case, simply update the `config.yml` by replacing the file on your server at: `plugins > ForcePack > config.yml` with the one from the latest version of the setup.

## 4. Updating CrazyVouchers

The CrazyVouchers plugin was rewritten in their **5.0.0** update. This means that we have rewritten the CrazyVouchers config in the setup. Therefore, we recommend to delete the CrazyVouchers folder on your server, and replace it with the folder from the latest version of the setup.

## 5. Migrating to Multiverse-Core V5 (Optional)

With the **1.21.8** update, we’ve migrated the **Multiverse-Core** plugin to V5, as the plugin was recently rewritten. This step is optional, but recommended.

To migrate, delete the **Multiverse-Core** plugin folder on your server and replace it with the one from the latest setup version. Then update the plugin itself.

Next, adjust the placeholders by replacing the following files with the updated versions from the latest setup:

* `plugins > TAB > config.yml`         &#x20;

Finally, delete the following file:

* &#x20;`plugins > PlaceholderAPI > expansions > Expansion-multiverse.jar`
